10 Gift Ideas for the Female Traveler

10 holiday gift ideas for female travelers

With Christmas FAST approaching, if you’re anything like me then you need to kick your holiday shopping into high gear. AM I RIGHT?!

Luckily, I have a pretty good idea of some of the things I could get for my female travel-loving friends. And since I’m such a nice person, I’m handing over 10 good ones right here on a silver platter for you.

Aren’t you happy I’m so nice?

Now, without further adieu, I give you some great gifts for the female traveler.

1. Lush Travel Friendly Products

You know the store… the one that smells like a bubble bath from a hundred feet away. And what girl can resist something that smells pretty? Combine that with some travel friendly packaging (like solid shampoos, solid perfumes, and body balm), and you have a perfect travel gift.

Check out our review post on Lush’s Liquid Alternatives, or buy some Lush items on Amazon.

2. Stuffable Daypacks and Bags

A good female traveler loves organization and flexibility. For the flexibility aspect, stuffable bags and daypacks take the cake. Expand your luggage, and they act as extra storage; shrink your luggage and they pack away with no fuss. Use the daypacks and bags for days at the beach, light hikes, or as carry-ons.

Check out our review of the Sea to Summit Ultra-Sil Daypack, or purchase one on Amazon.

3. Kindle

Because reading will always be a great way to pass time: in transit or in a hostel. The Kindle lets her pack in her favorite books into one compact machine taking up less space than an actual book!

Check out all the Kindle reviews we had as part of our Kindle Review Month, or purchase a Kindle on Amazon.

4. Magic (Infinity) Skirt or Dress

Because these skirts and dresses are one-size-fits-most, you won’t have to sneak into your girlfriend’s closet to find out her size. Plus, they can convert into a hundred different outfits. As a girl traveler, this is no other than a huge and definitive win.

For more clothing that can be worn in multiple ways read about the Chrysalis Cardi and the Versalette.

Because nothing speaks louder than words. Or, the pen is mightier than the sword? Your travel girl will want to have a private place for her thoughts, and the journal is where it’s at.

Check out this post on the benefits of journaling during travels, or purchase a nice travel journal on Amazon.

7. Secure Purse or Daypack

Give your travel-loving friend the gift of peace of mind. A secure purse (like the Travelon bag) or daypack (like the Pacsafe Slingsafe 300) will do wonders in keeping pickpockets at bay.

You can pick up a Travelon bag or a Pacsafe bag on Amazon.

8. Good Book

If your friend is more of a traditional type, then perhaps a good paperback book is the gift for her. We have reviewed a number of inspiring female books right here on Her Packing List to choose from.

Have a read through the reviews of The Lost Girls and Eat Pray Love before going to pick them up on Amazon.

9. Scarf or Sarong

Scarves and sarongs are two of the most versatile things a girl can pack. Not only can they be worn as accent pieces or to stay warm, they can also double as towels, blankets, and privacy screens in a pinch.

As an alternative, check out Turkish travel towels for your friend.

Read more about the uses of a scarf or sarong before picking one up on Amazon.

10. Grid-It Organizer

When Kristin Luna wrote up a One Little Thing post about the Grid-It, I was instantly sold. Check out that organization! The Grid-It allows you to keep all your electronics, cables and little bits in one place — then you just pop that in to your backpack!

Purchase a Grid-It on Amazon.

I run the show at Her Packing List and love packing ultralight. In fact, I once traveled for 3 entire weeks with just the contents of a well-packed 12L handbag. When I'm not obsessing over luggage weight, I'm planning adventures or just snuggling with my pet rabbit, Sherlock Bunz.
