This post is part of a series in which ladies on the road offer a review of their backpack. Today’s post comes from Adela, a Kiwi who has living abroad for the last two years.
Hey I am Adela, one half of Four Jandals Adventure Travel Blog. We have been living, working and travelling around the world with our trusty jandals (Kiwi slang for flip-flops) since 2009. I have been really lucky with my travels to date visiting over 26 countries including in North America, Europe, Asia and through Oceania. Hopefully this summer we will be able to tick off a few more countries in Eastern Europe.
What’s your backpack brand and model? How much does this backpack typically cost?
I have a Trespass Harket 35 liter backpack. It typically costs around £55 but Trespass always has great sales so we were lucky enough to get a two for one deal.

How long have you had your backpack and where have you traveled with it?
We bought our backpacks before we travelled around Italy and Spain for 2 months last summer. It was a great choice as last time I backpacked around Europe I took a 60 L pack and I moaned every time I put it on. This time our backpacks fitted into carry-on and were easy to carry around with us.
What factors were most important to you in choosing a backpack? How did you come to choose this one?
The most important factor was size, as I wanted it to be able to be taken on as hand luggage on my flights. I was also really aware of how heavy a big pack can be from previous travels. If you go too big then it can be really tough when you are walking around cities. Especially in the Italian Summer heat.
Having lots of pockets was also a must so that we could put things in that we needed access to without digging in the bottom of the bag. A rain guard was also on the list, even though we only got hit by rain twice in 2 months!
And of course it had to be comfortable to wear. When we were looking I wanted to make sure it would last, and I had heard good things from other travellers about Trespass. But to be totally honest, I chose this one because it was on sale. Luckily it did tick most of the boxes I had anyway, so it was a win-win.
What do you like most about your backpack? Any down sides?
The size was perfect for all my summer gear. It also had great support and the straps that sit around your middle are really comfortable. The only thing it was missing was a separate pocket down the bottom for your shoes or dirty washing. I hate having to put them in the main compartment with all your clean clothes.
Tell us about the fit and comfort level of your backpack.
It has a big padded strap across the middle which made it really comfortable and a strap across your chest to take off even more pressure from your shoulders. The shoulder straps are also padded. It was a really easy pack to wear for long hikes in Cinque Terre.
If you want to take your backpack as carry-on luggage, can you?
Yes which is ideal when you are flying Ryan Air/Jetstar etc! Saved us lots of money in baggage fees.
Have you found the size to be too small, just right, or too large?
It was perfect for everything we needed. And I even had a few things I didn’t wear with extra space.
Overall, would you recommend your backpack?
I would definitely recommend this backpack and also the trespass brand in general. I never had any problems and Cole brought one just like it too.
