So you got your Spain packing list sorted, found the perfect gear and are all ripe and ready to go. But what is probably one of the most important parts of traveling? That’s right: finding accommodation. Do you have your hotel in Barcelona booked so you won’t be left wandering around the city looking for a free room once you arrive?

When booking a hotel in Barcelona, it is always a good idea to seek out the areas where you plan to spend most of your time. There’s nothing quite like having a great night out, one that might go longer than expected, to then realize you have an hour trek or taxi ride in order to get back to your accommodation.
Some popular areas for hotels in Barcelona are in the La Rambla and the Gothic Quarter.
La Rambla is a street in central Barcelona where people like to walk. There are trees galore, shops here and there, and at the end you will find the big statue for Christopher Columbus. La Rambla is often referred to as Las Ramblas seeing how it is really a combination of several smaller streets, stretching for 1.2 kilometers. La Rambla is the perfect place to while away your afternoons in Barcelona. It’s near plenty of public transport hubs, and the shopping (souvenirs and other) is plentiful.
Gothic Quarter is actually in the old center of Barcelona. It is here that you can see and visit some famous landmarks like the remains of the Temple of Augustus, Basical a La Merce and Church of Sant Miguel. If you’re looking for the feel of history on your Barcelona stay, then head straight to the Gothic Quarter.
Final notes: If traveling in the late spring and summer months, it is always advisable to book your accommodation early in advance.
